In the foreseeable future, the Institute can see its quick development in the research on the mechanism and processes in the cold and arid regions, because the research emphasis of the Institute is mainly aiming at the diverse, typical and complicated geography and environment in the west China, which is characterized by the co-existence of cryosphere and arid regions, the Loess Plateau and Mongalian-Xinjiang Plateau associated with Tibetan Plateau, and the snowy mountains being the originated sources of both the inland and outflow rivers in the Central Asian continent. Following the needs of the National Project for the Development of West China, a great deal of practical issues will be encountered and the Institute will meet its better development opportunity in the involvement with solving these important issues. In this case, the Institute sincerely welcomes all domestic and overseas wisdoms joining its development and making its research level improved significantly.
